Founder story
From engineering to governed AI.
Nicolas Bean is an industrial engineer and AI adoption expert, with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal. He brings an engineer's rigour to AI: mapping how work really flows, choosing where AI adds value and putting technology governance in place, with clear rules, human approval and measurable results, before anything scales.
He went on to lead four full business turnarounds in consulting and high tech, including two M&A scenarios, restoring profitability and cash flow. He then founded Houseblend and built it into an Oracle NetSuite Alliance Partner known for implementation, rescue and optimization.
The inspiration
AI was everywhere. Results were not.
Companies were buying AI licences and nothing changed. People tried it a few times, got generic answers and went back to doing the work by hand. The tool was never the problem. Nobody had connected it to the company's own data, files and way of working. We had already done that for our own delivery, so we started doing it for clients. One mechanical contractor sent us their real estimating challenge: drawings, specs, an estimating spreadsheet and a past proposal. Two days later they had a working tool that drafts a full tender estimate in their own spreadsheet layout, with their estimator reviewing everything before it goes out. That is the gap we close.
